KP-CERC Team participated in OIC-CERT Cybersecurity Drill-2018.
The Two-member team represented KP-CERC in OIC-CERT Cybersecurity Drill organized by PISA-CERT in Islamabad. Which highlighted the presence of KP-CERC at national and International level.
OIC-CERT CYBER SECURITY DRILL is an annual event for OIC-CERT members to build a better and secure Cybersecurity ecosystem, including the capacity in incident handling with a suitable and comprehensive response as well as engaging better collaboration and coordination among CSIRT organizations from different countries.
The annual drill aims to test and evaluate the communication capabilities of the OIC-CERT member countries, check the processes and procedures in managing contingencies test the technical competencies of participating teams; and simulate cross-border cooperation in mitigating information security incidents.
The Oman Computer Emergency Readiness Team (OCERT) at the Information Technology Authority hosted and organized the annual Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-CERT) cybersecurity drill. The drill addresses Crypto-currencies risks and emerging threats and is conducted online.
OIC-CERT annual drill comes in line with the latest developments in the digital currency and the risks and threats surrounding it. The exercise simulates the attack of networks and systems of financial institutions to exploit the possibilities of these networks and systems to issue new digital currencies. The teams participate in the search process to investigate the type and source of the hacking process of those networks and systems.
Participating Countries:
This year 15 countries participated in the drill including, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia. Morocco, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tunisia, Sudan, Sri Lanka, UAE, India, and Taiwan.

Achievement:
Pakistan got 1st Position in OIC-CERT Cyber Drill 2018. The team achieved all targets within a set time and as per defined pattern in full response and combat way.
The event was coordinated and hosted by Pakistan Information Security Association (PISA) in Islamabad on September 18, 2018.
Being first public sector CERT of Pakistan, KP-CERC is planning to register as a full member of OIC-CERT and aiming to host next Cyber Drill at KPITB, Peshawar.
